How clean is the air you breathe? Why can’t you drink the water from the canals? Investigate water, noise, air, soil and light with self-made measuring instruments.

The Smart Kids Lab is a platform where kids can find tools to map their environment in a playful way, by using modern technology and non-technical tools.
With the help of small-scale tests and easy to make sensors they can monitor their surroundings at home or at school. They can compare their collected data to others and learn about the context of their data online.

The Smart Kids Lab lets kids playfully learn about their environment and how they can collect data about it themselves. This creates a deeper understanding and involvement in the environment and in turn increases their sense of responsibility for it. The Smart Kids Lab triggers kids to critically look at their environment and think of ways to improve it.

Kids can download instructions and guidelines to make and use their own sensors to measure their environment with. Besides building and measuring they are also triggered to put their collected data in context of bigger trends.

Thousands of kids in classrooms, at home or in their neighborhoods are measuring the environment with their self-made sensors.
